Talking about menopause and mid-life
Menopause is not just a gender or age issue. It impacts colleagues both directly or indirectly and should therefore be considered as an organisational issue. All managers and employees need to know about it and understand how they can support their colleagues. When surveyed:
- 99% of women stated their menopause had impacted their work
- 59% said they had taken time off due to symptoms
- 12% had resigned as a direct result
The need to attract, retain and promote the best talent is essential for business sustainability, regardless of size or sector. Making workplaces conducive to women has become key for many and, as such, the menopause cannot afford to be ignored – however uncomfortable the conversation.
However, it is these conversations about menopause and mid-life that in most organisations are being ignored, overlooked, avoided, or just conducted badly.
In this LinkedIn interview, Craig Smith from The Big Picture People will be joined by Carolyn Hobdey and Dave Algeo. Together, they will be exploring:
- What is the impact of organisations and managers ignoring the menopause and mid-life issues their employees are experiencing?
- How can organisations have the conversations they do not know how to have in relation to menopause and mid-life?
- What else needs to happen to create awareness and empathy to those who are living through menopause and mid-life?
